All staff are required to have current CPR/AED and First Aid certification. If you've received certification elsewhere, you may be able to carry it over. ASN will accept any current Red Cross or American Heart Association certifications.
If you don't have the certification, or it is expiring soon, ASN has instructors who can certify you. The following applies to either CPR or First Aid certification by itself, but most staff complete them at the same time. If yours are out of sync, feel free to contact the training team about bringing them back together.
Part 1
You must take Part 2 of the course within 30 days of finishing Part 1. Please plan accordingly.
Part 1 will become available as a task 90 days before your certification expires. Part 1 is found in Open Future Learning. Once you complete it, you will have 30 days to also complete Part 2. Since Part 1 is always available but Part 2 has to be scheduled, it would be a good idea to schedule Part 2 at the same time or even before you take Part 1.
Part 2
You must complete Part 1 of the course on OFL before you take Part 2.
Part 2 is the in-person skills demonstration class. Both CPR and First Aid are covered in the same class, but if you only need one you can choose to sit out the other part. Please inform the instructor when you arrive.

Certification Card
At the end of the course, you will be asked if you want to receive an official American Heart Association certification card (in electronic format), which will cost $25 (less than the payout you get for attending the class). It can be payroll deducted or paid by cash or check. If you don't request the card, you will sign a form verifying that you were offered a chance to receive it.
